Zune Browser - No Flash or Silverlight Support

At this point, Microsoft is reporting that the Zune Web Browser will not support Flash or Silverlight.

It is important to point out that the browser on the iPod Touch / iPhone also do not support this popular platform.

Flash support on a portable browser could bring Hulu to the handheld.  The first to bring Silverlight to the portable device has an interesting shot at streaming Netflix on the go.

We here at ZuneLuv were hoping that Zune would be the first to bring Flash or Silverlight to the Zune browser - but we guess we're going to have to wait.

How do you feel about the news?  Disappointed - or were you expecting the same?

I'm on my Zune HD right now reading this. There's nothing I would like to do right now than smash this piece of *$!% on the pavement. Wtheck! Where is the portable love? If not for the highly convincing box it came in I would of gotten the iPod touch.

yeah, the browser doesn't know what it wants to be when it grows up.

If Microsoft wants developers for the Zune, then they have to give support for Silverlight and/or Flash. Without this, they are going to have a hard time getting developers to build apps. As a developer myself, I would only consider building apps for Zune if either platform is supported. Otherwise, just build a web app.
