Zune HD Video Out - Comments And Questions
Originally, the Zune HD rumors spoke of an HDMI (mini?) out port on the Zune device. Theory then was that we'd plug our machines directly into our tvs (HD, of course)
We know now that this functionality will be possible, with the help of a dock. Microsoft tells us we'll be able to watch "supported 720p HD movies, TV shows and videos in high definition on your HDTV through the Zune HD & AV Dock (sold separately). Or take them with you for premium entertainment on the go. Additional dock and HDTV are required."
Comments:
- We had dreamed originally of a situation where the Xbox become our "AV Dock" for the Zune HD. We're curious why this isn't the case (in marketing material at least). Seems a sure fit for this story they're trying to tell of the Zune HD service being a universal thing.
- We sure hope "supported 720p HD movies" doesn't mean we won't be able to put our own content on our Zune HDs.
- You have love how legal made them remind us that we'll need a HDTV to view content on our HDTV.
Questions:
- How much will the dock cost? What kind of remote will it have? Will we be able to use our universal remotes with it fairly quickly?
- What exactly does Microsoft mean by "supported" 720p HD movies?
- Will we be able to plug our Zune HDs into our Xboxs and view content accordingly?
Any comments or questions from you?
