Zune HD Radio - Comments And Questions

So, Microsoft has decided to continue the Zune's "relationship" with the music industry by including HD Radio into the Zune HD.

There are 2 angles on this here - and we'll be examining both of them.

  • HD Radio as differentiator.  Nope, the iPod Touch doesn't have this.  The Zune HD definately needs something to "seperate" it from the iPod world.  Microsoft tried to do this with radio on the Zune and, we guess, they're attempting to do the same here.  The marketing and support they're getting from the HD Radio association is fascinating - but again, does it matter?  Around here, we think the Zune Marketplace options with the content accordingly is a heck of a lot more interesting / attractive.
  • HD Radio as defining characteristic / selling point. The question is - is there anyone who is going to buy the Zune HD for the radio?

We'd love your thoughts on both of these.  Does HD Radio in the Zune HD matter to you at all?  Do you think it helps/hinders Microsoft's marketing for the product?

Does anyone with portable media players listen to radio anymore?
