Zune WiFi, can the IPod do that?

Microsoft killed the IPod by putting this into the Zune. This is something that took us beyond a decent mp3 player and actually brought mp3 players to another level. The level of not having to connect to your pc to sync, you can do it wirelessly. You can also check and download new songs using your wifi network.

Can the IPod do that? Nope. With the IPod, you are still in the "connect usb cable to sync new songs" mode. The Zune trumps over this. This is one feature I enjoy using every chance I get. Let me explain this feature to you.

I'm at home and bored, so I pull out my zune. I scroll to the "Marketplace" tab and click on it. Out of curiosity, I'm wondering what the top album is, so I click on that link. You could search for a song if you wanted, but I want to know and keep us with what is popular, so I will use the "Top Albums" link as an example. I connect to the wifi network in my house at this point, and it scans the marketplace and throws the results at me. Several genres pop up at this point, and I can scroll to a genre that fits my interest and see the top albums in that genre. An album catches my interest, so I click on it. I want to buy the album, although I could listen to all of them if I wanted, so I click "Add to Cart". It adds the items to my cart, where I can then purchase and download the songs, mind you all done wirelessly. I'm not even sitting at my computer to do this, its all done through my wifi network. But I haven't even told you the other half of this yet…

The other wifi feature you can use is "Wireless Sync". Yes you heard correctly. Forget the usb cable, I'll just skip that step. Hearing this statement, the IPod goes green with envy. All I have to do is open the Zune software on my PC and from my zune go to Settings -> Wireless -> Sync -> Sync with PC. It goes through connecting to the network, finding and connecting to my pc, and updating all content on my zune accordingly. When its finished, I have the newest songs/videos/pictures/podcasts on my Zune. Very cool eh?
