Zune Sponsors New Media Expo 2008 - Where Is Apple?

What a wacky ride this has been. We started ZuneLuv.com with the desire of getting the Zune group to take Podcasting seriously.

Since then we've seen a full embrace of Podcasting, a new directory, wireless syncing and sharing of Podcasts (which even the iPhone 3G doesn't do), and more. It's been fabulous.

But perhaps one of the more exciting pieces of news for us here at ZuneLuv.com is Zune's sponsorship of the New Media Expo.

Not Apple.

Not Adobe.

Microsoft.

Microsoft Zune.

They've shown commitment to the community here with their sponsorship.

Thanks Zune!

  • And that, my friend, is a serious rebuttal! :-)
  • This Zune sponsorship and exhibit booth effort at the New Media Expo has nothing to do with Apple and everything to do with being the Zune brand. We are driving a social and a friendly community involved message at the event. Many in the podcast industry have just not seen what Zune is doing with podcasting yet. I want to expose everyone to the Zune 80, 4, 8 devices and the Zune Podcast Marketplace software. Podcasts are doing very well on Zune. I am very involved in the podcast community as I am one of the original podcasters to start podcasting with "WebTalk Radio". I have never had any interest in trying to rename podcasting as zunecasting. Zune is not dying or going away. The effort behind it is getting better every day and is growing fast. We have only been around for a little over 2 years and our competition has a huge lead on us as they have been around for many more years. You just cannot catch-up overnight. We are ramping up as fast as we can and are continuing to invest heavily in growing the Zune entertainment brand.

Hmm... Seems like people aren't even bothering to post on this "informative" ahem... site.

So I'll just give you all the obvious answer... Apple isn't there because they don't need to be. The only reason Microsoft is there is because they're doing what they always do... throwing lots of money at something with hopes of jumpstarting the Zune's paltry market share, market presence, and market interest.

How long has this knock-off been on the market now? It's time for you guys to just give it up... Eventually M$ is simply going to kill the Zune because they realize they're never going to get lucky like they did with Windows ever again.

As much as it must irritate the hell out of you guys, the fact remains that Apple is synonymous with this market... they dominate it, they have no need to throw any money at something like this Expo because 70% of those attending it will be doing the advertising for them.

In case you hadn't realized... it's called PODcasting... not ZUNEcasting... nor MP3PLAYERcasting.

I'd say it's time to close up shop... try cashing in on someone else's hard work.
