Zune And The 3G iPhone - We'll Say It Here Because Others Won't Elsewhere
Posted on 6:19 am by Team Zune LuvWireless Sync. Technically, we guess, the MobileMe service will provide that, but only for email, contacts, and calendar - not content. And, since MobileMe is another $99 a year, it certainly isn't an "out of the box" option. And, yes, we've had this option since November of last year.
Rental Music. We like try before you buy out here and we really like our Zune Pass. Yes, we know Apple says that will never happen and people don't want that but … they said the same about video on the iPod, an iPod phone, movie rentals, etc.
Content Sharing. Can I listen to that album you just bought on your iPhone a few times? Nope? Why not?
The Social. Social like elements will certainly come with the intro of the iPhone App Store, but I don't think any of them will not just tell me what my friends are listening to, but download me a copy as well.
Access to the Team at Zune. Cesar's Blog is ZuneInsider.com. Go ahead, read it. Notice all the names of people adding content? Do you know the names of the decision makers at Apple? What are their email addresses? What are their blogs? Go ahead, get interaction online with them.
Yes, the 3G iPhone is pretty exciting … but … it certainly doesn't own the market on innovation.

That's the best you could come up with?
Again with the wireless sync thing? Do you somehow physically feel wifi signals? Do they pleasure you or something? Besides… what good is wireless syncing when software updates are as sporadic as the ones for the Zune are?
Rental music? Seriously? People don't want to "rent" they're music.. they want to own their music… and if they've never heard the song before (which people are rarely interested in purchasing music they've never heard before to begin with), then they can easily get the gist of the song by the clips provided by iTunes. Besides… who are you kidding anyway? I'd be willing to wager that you have bittorrent clients downloaded on your pee-cee and sites like "thepiratebay" and the various "novas" bookmarked in IE7.
Content sharing? Outside of marketing spots, I've never seen two people standing next to each other with their Zunes or any other mp3 player, listening to each others music. And if they really want to… it's as simple as plugging their earphones into the other person's player - which they can then listen to as many times as they like.
The Social? Check out the App Store.. There are numerous apps for this purpose and more importantly, there are actually people out there to use them.
And as far as your last "point," see above…
Now… should we remind you of all the things the iPhone does that the Zune still doesn't do or further still - can't do?
