Is The iPhone SDK And Announcements A Peek At Zune's Gaming Future?

Apple launched, to a lot of hoopla, their iPhone SDK today.

It's exciting news for any iPhone owner or any developer for a number of reasons: A) it makes software development for this portable platform very easy and very powerful and B) it has the potential to make such a venture very profitable.

Apple is going to launch an AppStore where iPhone and iPod Touch users can download applications built for their handhelds with a couple of clicks of the button. There will be free options but what is really interesting is the marketplace deal they're offering the developers.

Charge for your application, let Apple complete the transaction and collect 70% of the take for your efforts. Suddenly, design became very exciting again.

But, obviously, this is a Zune blog. What doest his have to do with Zune?

We've seen the SDK options for Zune gaming. We know it is going to be very powerful and very much a part of Microsoft's future directions.

Will independent developers be able to sell their content to Zune owners through Microsoft?

Would the "points" model make a perfect sense in something like this?
