Zune 80 GB Digital Media Player (Zune 2) Review

The Zune 80 GB Digital Media Player is an excellent product on multiple levels. Many of the things we covered in our Zune 8 gb review a true for this as well, but let's talk some other issues. Yeah, this new interface for Zune has produced something very cool.

Here's the stuff that is different in the HD version.

Video out is gorgeous. Attach this to the Home AV/Pack and you've got everything you ever wanted from a Media Center Apple TVish kinda thing. Remember, this plays h.264 media files natively (which is tiny in nature and looks good). Also remember, you don't get video on on the 4 or 8 gig versions.

It's smaller than you'd think. It's about half as thick as the old Zune 30. Feels nice too. Your iPod friends are gonna look twice at this thing.

The premium earbuds look and feel excellent. Nobody else gets premium earbuds out of the box and it is nice to have these bad boys with you.

Let me give you a hint. The screen is so nice that you really want a family picture in the background behind your music and interface.

I was told by Best Buy that were discontinuing sales of the 80gb Zune. I was having so many problems with mine (went through 4 of them), that I gave up and got an iPod. I hate it compared to the Zune, but I could get another at Best Buy. Pisses me off!
