    1. an iPhone costs $200, not 600 you dumb fuck
    2. Having another person shove something into your behind feels really good, especially while massaging your dick; you should try it.
    3. Apple business decisions work better than Microsoft's... and it shows in their products. Even Bill Gates likes Macs.
  • fuck you dick head go to fucking hell u pc loving zazi

Great argument! I love how I get phone calls on thousands of apps on my Zune! And the iTunes store is so amazing on the Zune, too! Oh wait a second, the Zune sucks!
  • Keith
Apple can't choose a business issue over their customers. Without the customers they would have no business. So they made a customer based decision.
  • Apple has tight restrictions, but they still will overpower any music device creating company... deal with it, btw Zunes are lame... the iPhone/iPod Touch is STILL WAAAAAAYY better than Zunes, EVEN UN-Jailbroken!

sorry... and IT IS possible to sync wirelessly, I do... that is, unless i'm doing something impossible..

Here is my comment. Anyone that has loyalty to one brand is will end up arguing a point that is wrong because when another company brings out a better product, you will be defending an inferior product.

I have both a mac book pro and a windows laptop, and no love for microsoft or apple. I got them both around the same time and both were top of the range at the time. OSx looks a bit nicer, but it's not an operating system for people that know how to use computers. For instance, apple won't trust you to cut and paste files - you can drag and drop them anywhere but not cut and paste. If you're navigating a menu, clicking on a greyed out item causes the whole menu to close. You could have navigated your way through three submenus and accidently clicked 1 pixel away from your intended target and the whole thing closes down. I often hear mac users go on about keyboard shortcuts but these are by no means superior in OSx. For instance in a web browser, as you tab through the fields in a form, the control won't stop on radiobuttons and checkboxes unless you specify a setting deep In osx's preferences. Why wouldn't you want to set all items in a form? Someone please tell me a keyboard shortcut on a mac that doesn't exist on windows.

Osx is in my experience MUCH slower to use than xp. Click on the apple menu and wait for a second for the menu to load. Use a few benchmark applications for both systems and compare their loading times - there is no comparison.

Finally stability. In the 7 years I have used xp, I have had one crash. I use osx every day at work so perhaps this is an unfair comparison but my mac totally crashes about once a month. I never shut down either system, but the mac requires a reboot about once a week when processing power grinds to a halt.

All of this leaves osx feeling antiquated, clunky and far less configurable. I have used vista a bit - not very stable and has a lot of problems. By far the best operating system has to be xp for reliability, stability and usability. Mac wins on asthetics.

I've got an iPhone and they're great.

No. Windows' much higher market share is not due to its superiority.

There are very few things Microsoft does best, and almost nothing it has done first. What Microsoft did was sell to a wide variety of users with a wide variety of hardware configurations until it became your grandaddy's OS manufacturer. It's like the McDonald's of the software world-- there's Windows on every corner, why wouldn't I eat it? It even comes with ketchup.

    Zune more powerful than iPhone?

    Really?

Look, I'm by no means a fan of Apple products, generally speaking. Every PC I've ever owned has run Windows, and I don't think I'll ever be comfortable with a Mac. But the iPhone is a marvelous piece of equipment. It isn't the best PDA phone out there for power-users, but it (and even its developmentally-disabled little brother, the iPod touch) can do leaps and bounds beyond what the Zune is capable of.

Sure, there's no useful wireless sync unless you pay Apple for it (which I do not and will never do), but consider that that's ALL the Zune's Wi-Fi is good for. No web browsing. No e-mail. No games. No practical use whatsoever. No thanks.

to be quite honest everyone who says that windows or mac is rubbish are just so pathetic. can't we just accept the fact they are both brilliant operating systems?? why is it that as soon as blogs comparing stuff like this appear you get the same boring moronic comments that don't have any use to anyone, 'microsoft copied apple, they are so unoriginal...iphone is so over priced and rubbish, zune is so much better...' and blah blah bloody blah. Get a life and just accept the fact that nobody cares about your whining and bitching!
  • LPDV
I like the fact that Microsoft keeps copying. This lets apple users know that they are still ahead of Microsoft :-). No, seriously, they are inspiration-less.

Extremely ironic statement you make, considering that OSX is based off of Unix, while Microsoft is its own product. Also, Microsoft has 90% of the market share. You know why? Cuz its better. Apple computers are for those idiots who don't know how to use computers. You want to know everything about your computer and control exactly what is going on, Linux is the way to go, followed by a highly configured and customized Windows. Sure it may take some time to customize Windows and get rid of all the Windows bloatware, but the final product and its compatibility and ability to run virtually any program out there in the world with ease, slaughters Mac OSX. I am not saying that I don't like Apple. Their design is excellent. Plus, I have 2 Nanos and a Touch. I'm just saying that all this dispute between OS's is highly idiotic. There is no question about it. OSX may specialize in multimedia, but you can just as easily get those programs for Linux and Windows. There is nothing that sets OSX apart from the other operating systems.

"Apple really doesnt have much of a clue on how to build a decent OS - the first time they let 3rd party apps in, and down goes the whole phone."

    Well VS,

I've been a Microsoft user for 20+ years now and I find it ridiculous that anyone would say such a thing. You're either horribly deluded or you've got some big ones. Although one thing I am fairly certain of is that you must be a relatively young man - cockiness and unwarranted zeal are surefire giveaways. AMG is just your typical AA (Apple Ass) and there's no point in arguing with that type, especially when you're on the wrong side of the argument.

Apple doesn't have a clue how to build a decent OS? And what, Microsoft does? Even if your opinion remotely shared any semblance with reality, then what does that say about a company who copies company who "can't build a decent OS [sic]?" Forget third-party apps - Microsoft can't even install one of their own programs without the better than likely chance of bringing down their OS!

Microsoft has basically had me locked in for the past two decades, partly out of necessity and partly out of a simple reluctance to change. However, these days, that necessity is no longer there and frankly, I'm sick and tired of Microsoft and I welcome the possibility of change. I'm too old to have to battle with my computer anymore. It should just do what I tell it to do whenever I tell it to do it - I shouldn't have hog up my system resources by constantly scanning and disinfecting my computer - I shouldn't have to partake in the annual or even biannual ritual of backing up and reinstalling the OS. It's just not worth it anymore and the simple fact is that only a company such as Apple, love them or hate them, can provide a solid solution for what I need.

I don't agree with everything AMG said, but I am in agreement with one thing he said - there really is one big reason why people would buy a Zune over an iPod and that's because they would harbor said "irrational hatred" towards Apple. If you'd like to look for an example, by your own comments you seem to fit the bill yourself.

On the subject of iPhones and Zunes, I have had both. I have had 2 iPhones and neither of them had service that was worth the price of the plans. Like VS said, you really have a nice over priced music player. Granted, some people swear by their iPhones, I just did not have any luck with service on them. I am an Appalachian Wireless customer and their service is superior compared to AT & T. Now Im not dogging the iPhone, I REALLY like it! But I did have problems with it crashing too.

Now for the Zune. I have a Zune 30 and a 30 gig iPod, I like both. But anymore I lean more to the Zune for my portable music because Im starting to like the interface better. The Zune desktop software is another story though, it is horrible, iTunes has it beat hands down.

Now on Macs and PCs. I am and avid Windows user, and no its not because what AMG said about it being the only thing I could buy for 300 at Best Buy. Windows applications are more readily available then Mac software, and generally less expensive. I rarely ever have any problems with my computer. I'm not saying I hate Macs, if anything, I would actually love to have one! My wife is a teacher and they have Macs in their rooms. I played on her Mac for an hour and loved it. Yes it was different but I liked it, but I still like Windows.

This whole PC vs. Mac, iPhone / iPod vs Zune garbage is just that, garbage. Why bash someone for their choice of hardware. All of them have their good and bad sides and which ever one you choose, you will have to deal with it. People need to grow up and not argue over things so minuscule. If these are the biggest problems that you have to worry about, obviously your not adults.
  • VS
    Well AMG,

Guess what - considering all the dropped calls and issues with the new iPhone 3G, it is nothing more than a very high priced music player! So the comparison with Zune is pretty apt!!

And, there's more - the phone is so unstable that 3rd party apps can freeze it repeatedly. Apple really doesnt have much of a clue on how to build a decent OS - the first time they let 3rd party apps in, and down goes the whole phone.

"Here's a novel idea - instead of acting like all the other moronic, white, middle class teenage children, try having an original thought for once instead of following the pack." @ Johnny on April 6 2008.

I can't begin to convey how amusing I find that comment... especially since I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume that you're a Windows user! Could you be any more hypocritical... talk about following the pack. Why do you use Windows? Oh... because almost everyone else uses Windows... they all do, so it *must* be the best... so I'm going to use it too. Give me a break pal... I can't even imagine how you could've possibly even written those words without your soul imploding inside you. Hypocrite... an absolute hypocrite.

Anyway... as far as this "article" goes - it's about as useless as this site is in general. How can you possibly even think of comparing the iPhone and a Zune... two totally different devices for completely different purposes. It's like comparing Apples to dead elephants.

Remind me again how many Zunes have been sold?

    Right....

Here's a friendly reminder... there's only one reason and one reason alone that one would buy a Zune and that's because the buyer holds a complete and irrational hatred towards Apple. Only the most obstinate, fan-boy Microtards who use and defend M$ because they actually think Windows is a wholly superior product would do so. Despite the fact that they are in the vast minority seeing as how the majority of Windows users use such due to three reasons:

A:) They don't know any better, nor do they really care to.

B.) It's what they use at work. Or,

C.) That was the only thing they could buy for $300 at Best Buy.

Get over yourselves... I don't blame you for wanting to somehow cash in on someone else's work... but I'd suggest trying to do so with something that actually has an enormous popular following.

Zune what??? buy an ipod touch and learn. If you feel screwed for having an ipod... just try to sell it on ebay before you can't. :D

Im sick of apple fan boys saying that Microsoft copied Mac OSX, has anyone this is technology were talking talking about? When the first color screen mobile phone came out, how long did it take the other retailers to produce a similar product? Was that copying, if so how come there is no one whining about that?

    I not saying that W

Get off the crack pipe guys!! This whole 'Apple are the love of my life' view of the world is really boring and predictable.

In order to create a great product like the iPhone, you have to have great companies to support it (Examples: Google, AT&T...). Apple did go to Verizon first in the early stages of the iPhone and offered them the 5 year exclusive contract, but they were stupid and turned down Apple. So Apple went to AT&T. Apple isn't the ONLY company who has ever selected one carrier to market a phone.

If you want to talk about the price, you're not paying $600 for a phone. The iPhone is not just a freakin phone. Its a pocket computer that makes calls and has internet capabilities practically anywhere it has service. You can't buy any combination of equivalent products that do what it does for any cheaper...not for the size. And if you want to carry around 3 separate devices that weigh you down then be my guest. But the price was fair in my opinion, if you value the product and what it can do for you.

Steve Jobs is not at fault for any such "royal screwing". Apple has never royally screwed anyone without making up for it. Sure, the iPhone went down in price by $200 about 2 months after its release. But that is just economics--supply and demand. And yes, people got mad. But soon after, Apple came out with the $100 rebate program for early iPhone adopters. Apple takes care of its customers. If you can say otherwise, then obviously you've never dealt with them.

If you have something against AT&T, then wait 5 years and you can have your iPhone with another carrier. If you want something to complain about, complain about how Microsoft is making people pay to "test" the "beta" version of the so-called "final release" of Vista.

    Get a Mac...
  • tigerjuju
True, Apple knows how to make great products. But Apple also knows how to screw themselves and their customers with their arrogant business decisions for the wonderful products they've released. Like the $600 iphone price gauging of the most loyal apple early adaptors, locking users to ATT, bricking unlocked iphones, etc.

Amazing thing is, apple fan boys don't seem to mind having steve jobs shoving anything up into their behinds. In fact, they seem to quite enjoy such royal screwing and would passionately defend Steve for it.

I have no problem with ppl loving apple products, b/c most of apple goodies are quite good. But why defend the company when they clearly choose their own business interest over their customers?
  • DC
Agreed with above statement, well put jb.

You guys don't know your stuff. Microsoft will never out due Apple. They only thing Microsoft has ever done is copy Apple. Like your hallowed Vista...looks like a Microsoft-ized version of Mac OS X. And your viruses...good luck with those. I don't even have virus protection on my Mac. Have fun with your slow computers waiting for Apple to create something Microsoft can copy so you can enjoy it. My advice...switch.
