The Zune Social As Podcaster Communication Platform?

I took home a lot of ideas from my lunch with Rob and Cesar. I'll be discussing them over the next couple of days - as we get closer and closer to launch.

Is there an official launch date? As mentioned earlier, I think it is safe to assume that Amazon's launch date is solid. Do I have an "official" word on that at this point? No.

As you should know by now, ZuneLuv is all about the Podcasting part of the Zune experience. This is both from the point of view of the recipient - and the Podcaster.

In this piece, I want to talk about the Podcaster.

Here's the thought/idea/question. It wasn't answered yesterday but I think we're all smart enough here to put two and two together.

We know that there will be messaging from with the "social" aspect of the Zune software. I'll be able to send JacketBrown (more on his fate, later) a message within the new platform.

The rumor is out there that we'll have Zune Cards, just like we have Xbox Cards.

All this, so far, just makes sense.

But here is an extension of this idea for Podcasters, that really brings this "welcome to the social" bit to a whole new level.

What if a Podcaster encourage his/her audience to sign up as a friend in the "new" social element that is coming soon.

Would that Podcaster be able to bulk message her/his audience with updates and information about the show?

How cool would that be?
