Zune DRM

As with any other major MP3 player tied to any music for purchase service, the Zune has DRM integrated into it.

What does this mean to you?

It is going to be much harder to "share" your Zune Marketplace music files with anyone who doesn't have a Zune. For those who do have a Zune MP3 player, you'll be able to beam the files right to them with little to no effort.

Is the Zune DRM better or worse than any of the other systems out there? Honestly, it is about the same as the other DRM systems out there but it isn't as simple as Apple's Fairplay program. But it is the subscription side of the Zune Marketplace that requires a heavier hand. Think about it - one could sign up, download thousands of dollars worth of music and do some serious damage if they wanted to (and the Zune DRM wasn't good).

Is the Zune DRM perfect? No. Is it close? No. Is any DRM schema perfect? No.
