Zune a Backstab or Just a Rev 1 Move?

So ComputerWorld has this Blog posting that Zune was a "backstab" to previous partners.

Was that it?

Or was it Zune is just a lame rev 1 release?

Or was Zune an attempt at something great that just went bad?

I think when we crack the mystery of what Microsoft is 'really' trying to do with Zune, we'll understand how to handle this better. It's pretty much given that they'll be fixing and adding things in future releases (the word Podcasting can be found in the 1.2 software) and that is to be expected but … I just have this uneasy feeling about it that I can't put my finger on.
