Got Our First Zune … It Won't Flop

We got our first Zune, video coming soon.

Screen is impressive - very impressive. I'm sure iPod will beat it next release, but she sure is nice right now.

Haven't played with the Marketplace yet.

By the way, the Zune won't flop despite other's predictions. Here are 10 reasons why …

1. Zune will stand alone without needing the sharing as a killer app. That will come later. The guy at Target today thought "these are pretty cool" and that will sell more of these things to Moms looking to buy a present for their kids than Wifi sharing ever will.

2. It will go on sale (for cheaper) very soon. Don't worry. Black Friday is my prediction.

3. Pricing at store is not complex. Get over that one.

4. It only shares the stuff you are "allowed" to share. When they finally put a Podcatching element in this thing, I see hoards of Podcasters buying one of these things hoping to get the word out about their product. Sharing is good - how important is another story all together …

5. If DRM is gonna kill Zune, it is also going to kill iPod. And we see how dead the iPod is …

6. Negative buzz don't matter to the market they are going for.

7. Don't matter that it don't work with Windows Media or Windows Mac. Additional bloatware to support a Windows hardware program is industry standard. Ever installed an inkjet printer? And, as much as I love my Mac, our numbers aren't enough to count.

8. Hobbled features that can be turned on later will make a bunch of Zuneheads very happy when they get an upgrade without having to purchase one.

9. They went high and they should have gone high. Did they achieve? History will tell.

10. Brown is different than black or white. Live with it.
