The 7 iPod vs. Zune Comparisons You Won't Read Anywhere Else

And probably for good reason …

Price: iPod's pricing set by Steve. Zune's pricing set by a team in Redmond with a bald guy named Steve in it.

Battery: Zune's batteries last a good long time - until you turn on WiFi. iPod's batteries last a good long time - until you use the darn thing more than twice.

Preloaded Content: iPod took a page from Microsoft's book and preloaded their Pod's with Solitare. Zune took a page from Apple's book and gives you a box with no words on it.

Accessories: Zune - Two Words: VAF Octavio (really, look it up). iPod - Two Words: Crapper Dock (really, look it up).

Store: iTunes v1 - what's Podcasting? Zune Store v1 - what's Podcasting?

Social Networking: She's got an iPod, she must be cool. She's got a Zune, I wonder if she has any cool tunes.

Wireless: Zune - built in. iPod - We're the ones who made wireless cool and then Microsoft copied us dammit.

Bonus: iPod - single color shadows dance around and show us how cool the thing is. Zune - Ellen gives away free Zunes on her show to show us how cool the thing is.

    "Zune batteries last a good long time." Are you sure? What store did you buy your new Zune from? Remember, until it's on the shelves, it's vapourware - like MS Vista. My Nano battery easily outpaces what Apple claimed.

    What's wrong with the Zune? Design by committee - made by Toshiba based on an already failed entry into the Mp3 player market. Ooooh. It has wifi. Goodie. 3 plays or 3 days - that's not networking.

    Accessories - so far 1 announced for Zune. So far, about 7000 shipping for iPod. You do the math.

    Colours - brown? I mean really... brown?

    I'll be interested to see a Zune, if and when they actually ship. I can't help but think of Microsoft's stellar reputation for shipping products when they promise. Got your copy of the release version of Vista yet?

  • Wow - While I can understand the sediment against Apple for actually having a product that's too popular, I wonder how many iPod users would find your remarks way off the mark or irrelevant. The only thing I could agree with is the social networking thing: with so many people clamoring for the things, it seems like many will buy one who will not use it for what it's intended for.

    Wow, okay. Everyone needs to take their tongue and stick it firmly against a cheek (either left or right, ambidextrous is never a bad thing) and then re-read the article.

    I have an iPod, have had a few in the past. Love it. Maybe MS's is better (was that vomit i just tasted in the back of my throat!?) but we'll just have to wait and see.

    I'm still trying to work out the Zune Points to Real Money conversion in excel, anyone want to help?

    Hah, chuckle, laugh. Time to go back to work.

    anyone ever realize mr. gates aka microsoft c.e.o nerling is coping apple like there is no tommorow and the zune is not even kewl. ps. ipod batteries last like 24 hours of solid music cranked up about 3 quarters of the way up.
