How does one get a Zune unit for review?
Be a major tech blogger with a huge reach? (Not me, Gizmodo). No.
Be a Microsoft MVP or someone Microsoft has proclaimed as an influencer? No.
Be a Microsoft employee? No.
You have to be in the audience of the Ellen show. Yes!
Gizmodo has the whole, very wierd, story - with video.

I have to say I was upset that they could give 100 Zune players to the Ellen show and 5 to Engadget but no one else gets anything so far. They let the music bloggers play with some but no free device to review.
WIth the number of quality sites promoting their hardware device you might think they would offer some to us for review also. Not much for sharing so far.
Zune looks like a joke. iPods are a far mor superior product.
Microsoft cannot get windows right why do they bring out a portable media device?
It looks like desperate times calls for desperate measures.
I switched to an Apple Mac 2 months ago and its the best thing ever, no more MicroCrap products for me.
Apple make great products, I have used Apple product since the Apple Classic some 15 years ago. I now use a PC with Windows 2000 on it to do programming, a Apple Ibook for my emails and Linux for any host I need to do. I have never owned an iPod but have fixed quite a few.
The iPod made the Apple of today even though mp3 devices had been out many years before. Pure bling and trend setting I think. Microsoft produced the Xbox, I heard people saying it would never sell like the PS2, how wrong, Microsoft reduced the price and bought itself into the market, all the cash.
The Zune, the same senerio, they will sell them, they will reduce the price and people will buy, whats more is that people who have an iPod would probably prefer to have a product that links directly, without fuss to their Xbox360 and Microsoft Vista. I will not be long but the market share will be bought.
