5 Reasons Zune "May" Succeed
Gizmodo offers 5 reasons Zune "may" succeed.
Some thoughts:
1 - The 50% wider screen comment is almost funny the day after Apple shows us how easy it is going to be to hook our iPods up to any screen we want.
2 - The Zune "Community" will only work when 2 people in the same room have a Zune. The viral element they're going for here (Hotmail, ICQ, AOL, etc.) had two main issues that Zune can't have: A - Viral community has to be free to catch on and B - The "community" features is going to drain the batteries so hard that I can't see anyone getting too excited about it.
3 - The Zune has Microsoft. Is this a good thing?
4 - The anti-iPod crowd. Uh, there is one, and they're very small and their problems are DRM, over pricing of components, and requiring special software to get media on your players. These are the types who love the insert / mounts as hard drive / Podcast Ready types (which rocks functionality wise, btw). This argument has no weight at all.
5 - Zune's future … Again, very debatable.
