BREAKING … Microsoft Zune(firmware 0.9 beta) Hit Hundreds of Podcasts Yesterday! Will Zune Actually PodCatch?

Fact: Yesterday, September 10, 2006, Microsoft Zune(firmware 0.9 beta) hit 200+ Podcast feeds.
Where do I get this stat? Rick Klau, VP Business Development at Feedburner.
And yes, I have permission to quote him.
If this is a hoax, someone is trying pretty hard to pull it off. I'm getting very close to believing this is real. Of course, a few questions come up:
- Zune is supposed to hit the stores on 11/14, just a little over a few months away. These things have to be in production by now. Is Zune in production with beta software? Is Zune firmware upgradable?
- Could this be something Microsoft is trying that ain't in the 11/14 release? How much would that stink?
- Why the secrecy with what Zune has/doesn't have? Is Microsoft trying to copy Apple's secrecy motif? Do they know something about Apple's announcement tomorrow that "changes things?"
- How long can an FM broadcastin', Wifi Podcatchin', battery operated, first generation "iPod Killer" last on a single charge?

As posted by Paul Colligan over at ZuneLuv(thanks Paul, for mentioning me one more time!), Feedburner says that 200+ podcasters on September 10, 2006 had the Zune firmware 0.9 beta hit their feeds. Again, I'm not saying anything, just wondering if Microsoft has finally gotten the hint. Let's hope so. It'll just mean one more toy that I need to buy. [...]
Will Zune Actually PodCatch?…
That's the question Paul Colligan asked in his latest post at Zune Luv, and it appears the answer is……
Any successful viral marketing campaign has an element of mystery or confusion to hook people in. Microsoft are doing well with it.
I may be incorrect but I believe, from the FCC filing, that the first Zune player will not have an FM transmitter. I believe though that it will have an FM receiver.
So it'll play FM, but won't be able to transmit to your car stereo, for example.
I guess it's all conjecture until Bill Gates pulls the covers back a little more. (Ouch, did I really say that?)
