A Post PC Zune?

We have Microsoft talking of a post-PC society.

We have a music player with Wifi.

Right now, at least according to what we know, the only reason the player has wifi is to "loan" music.

Microsoft is very comfortable with IR and has a lot of mobile devices with Bluetooth - but they picked Wifi?

Why wifi?

Just chewing on everything that's coming in about Zune and I have to ponder if maybe Zune's future holds Internet access without a PC.

Even if it didn't, couldn't they build that into a firmware upgrade?

Forget Zune is iPod killer - is it the Media PC killer?

Just thinking out loud here as we wait for release …
