Packed With Music Videos - Zune Satisfies?

The thirtysomething crowd loves to pontificate on remembering when "MTV played Music Videos …"

Those with a business mind find themselves saying, "Wow, music videos must not be the powerhouse they once were. Heck, if even MTV has nearly abandoned the format …"

But Zune, sweet Zune, is packed with music videos from content partner EMI.

The question is this - "Something to put on the hard drive so we don't deliver and empty one (good idea)." or "Yep, we're gonna be the device that the kids watch their music videos on (bad idea)."

I'm actually betting on the first - there is some strateegery emerging with Zune's launch, despite their Podcast ignoring.

Paul starts dreaming …

Kids, your Zune comes with every episode of AskaNinja or Nacho Grande or …

A video Podcast sampler of every Zune - how cool would that be? Imagine the press Microsoft would get if they included 100 episodes from the 100 top Video Podcasts on the 30 gig hard drive.

Keeping hope alive …

Of course, … AskANinjal.com hasn't produced a new video in over a month. Could they be busy with something else?

Of course not, but let's keep the options open and encourage Microsoft to think and launch, do I dare say it, different.

As discussed earlier, we're big fans of the FM transmitter, but have yet to read anything about a video out format.

FYI, bought a video iPod dock for my home theater system complete with recharger and remote control from Costco yesterday for $69. Very cool.

The potential is there, but will we feel the Zune luv?

The deal with EMI is quite groundbreaking and should open the doors to the other major labels. One thing is certain, Microsoft can't launch without having access to the complete catalog, not just a sub-set of it. Users don't care if their favourit artist is not from EMI. They don't even know what label they are on in many cases!

Why is it so groundbreaking? I'm not doubting you, I'm just missing that part.
