With Apple Acting Like Microsoft, Zune Might Have a Chance Acting Like Apple
Posted on 2:59 pm by Team Zune LuvBasically, the order of the day has been cease and desist for anything that even smacks of the word "Pod."
FT.com broke the story while doing that polite FT.com thing they do.
USA Today's Techspace says (in response) "For downright stupid, we have to go clear to Cupertino."
Crunchgear suggests, "We can see why Apple’s doing this, as trademark dilution isn’t is a place no company wants to go. However, in Mach5Products’ case, the owners claim that they thought of the name back in 2001, before they heard of the name iPod. But will that make a difference? Probably not."
On my other blog, I warn that if Apple keeps acting like Microsoft, Zune might have a chance.
This could get messy for Apple, and messy for Apple is only good for Microsoft (Zune at least). If they take the high ground here (guys, please do!), we could have a win.
